I've always been fascinated with the science behind wine storage. It's an art form that requires precision and a keen sense of detail. I'm sure even some WINE CONNOISSEURS aren't aware of the IMPORTANT science behind wine refrigeration temperatures.
For starters, let's just say that there's really no one-size-fits-all temperature when it comes to wine storage. Different types of wines require different storage temperatures and as somebody who's been around wine for quite some time - I can vouch for that! White wines should be refrigerated at around 10-12 degrees Celsius while reds should ideally be kept at a slightly warmer temperature - 22-24 degrees Celsius.
Apart from just the right temperature, the other IMPORTANT factor to consider is humidity. This is because wine can be easily damaged if left in an environment that is either too dry or humid. The optimum humidity level should be somewhere around 60-70% relative humidity. This can be easily achieved by adding a few bottles of mineral or distilled water in the humidifier - simple!

A: Personally, I think they're pretty cool (in every sense of the word). Wine refrigerators are set to specific temperatures dependent upon the type of wine you want to store. the right temperature is key to making sure your wine stays yummy and doesn't go too bad too soon.
Q: What Temperatures Should I keep wine at?
A: Well, I'm no sommelier, but the general rule of thumb is to store white or rose' wines at somewhere between 42 – 57°F and red wines between 52 – 57°F. But, depending on your personal taste, those temperatures could vary a bit.
Q: Can I go higher or lower?
A: I wouldn't advise it. Moving too far from these temperatures can result in the loss of important flavor nuances in your wine. Not to mention, you'd be risking your wine going bad faster.
Q: What's the Best way to make sure I get the right temperature?
A: Definitely invest in a decent wine refrigerator. You'll also want to make sure that the temperature stays constant, and there's minimal light and little to no vibration.
Q: If I don't have a wine fridge, What can I do?
A: You can always store your wines in an underground cellar- if you need one of those. But, if that's not an option, you can always try and find somewhere in your house where the temperature is more or less consistent. Just avoid any moisture or light exposure, and the temperature should be ideal.

I love drinking wine and storing it correctly is something very important to me. The temperature is one of the most CRUCIAL aspects of wine storage, and it requires some UNDERSTANDING of the science behind it. Wine REFRIGERATION temperatures vary depending on the type of wine you are storing. Generally, the rule of thumb is that WHITE wines should be stored at a temperature of 47 to 53 degrees Fahrenheit, and RED wines should be stored at 55 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
I find it FASCINATING that white and red wines need to be stored at different temperatures. First and foremost, white wines tend to be either sweet or dry. Therefore, they need to be stored at a lower temperature to prevent them from getting too “PUNGENT.” On the other hand, red wines are usually full-bodied and have more tannin and flavor, so it’s important to store them at a higher temperature to preserve their full flavor.
It is also important to keep HUMIDITY in mind when storing wine. Too much humidity can cause the cork to swell and the wine to become “musty,” while too little humidity can create a dryer environment, which can cause the wine to oxidize. Ideally, wine should be stored at a humidity of 50-70 percent.
Finally, a LIGHTING factor is also important. Light can affect the quality of the wine and it’s also important to store them away from direct light. Keep the wine in a cool dark place and rotate them every six months for optimal storage conditions.
