Chill Out with the Perfect Wine Storage Cooling Option

It is high time to pour a glass of your favorite vintage, but one problem – how to get the right level of cooling? Many wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs will tell you that getting the proper temperature is as important as the choice of grapes while selecting your favorite bottle.

We all know that the temperature of your wine can make or break your experience, that is why selecting an effective wine storage cooling option is of utmost importance. Whether you do not have a lot of space for a full-size wine refrigerator or for those who just do not have much money to spend on expensive cooling equipment, there are a variety of efficient and affordable wine storage cooling options available.

The fact is, not all wines age the same way and it is paramount to select the perfect storage cooling option specific to each type of vintage. Without proper storage and cooling, valuable wines may become damaged due to inappropriate storage temperatures. For a better understanding of how much temperature you need for storing different types of wine correctly, here is a little guide.

White Wines

Young white wines, such as Sauvignon Blanc, should generally be stored at temperatures around 50?F – 56 ?F (10-13?C). These types of wine can typically be stored at these temperatures for up to one year.

Sparkling Wines

For much of the same reasons noted above, sparkling wines like Champagne, Prosecco, and Riesling should also be stored at cooler temperatures of about 45?F – 50?F (7-10?C).

Red Wines

On the other side of the spectrum, red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, or Pinot Noir should flourish between temperatures of 58?F – 61?F (14-16?C). These types of wines may be stored at these temperatures for up to one year.

Aging Wines

If you want your red wines to mature over a long period, around one to three years or longer, you will need cooler temperatures than what were noted above. Ideally, you should store ageing wines at temperatures between 50?F and 55?F (10-12?C).

The Necessities for Proper Wine Storage Cooling

  • Thermometer: In order to properly store and age wines, you need to first purchase a thermometer. This device helps you monitor the temperature of your storage space and helps you make sure your precious collection is not being subjected to warm temperatures.
  • Humidifier: The level of humidity in your storage area is also a major factor when trying to achieve the perfect temperature. Humidity levels should be kept between 70-90%. A humidifier that channels water vapor into the air can help ensure keeping the humidity levels in check.
  • Wine Cooler: The last item you need when trying to get the right temperature for your wine collection is a wine cooler. A wine cooler allows you to keep your wines at the correct temperature and humidity levels. Many wine coolers come in shapes and sizes to fit your needs, and they can help you save both space and money in order to create the perfect environment for long-term storage.

From finding the perfect space to purchase the proper equipment, setting the stage for proper wine storage cooling is of paramount importance. For those of us who appreciate a fine bottle of wine, it is essential to take the extra steps to ensure our bottles of choice are chilled to perfection.

So, now that you know the basics of proper wine storage cooler, it is time to uncork your favorite bottle and enjoy a nice glass of chilled wine. Cheers!
