I LOVE pairing my favorite dishes with delicious and perfectly chosen wines. As far as I am concerned, chicken dishes require special attention when it comes to selecting a bottle of wine to bring out the flavors and leave you satisfied. So, if you want to make sure that you get the best WINE experience for your CHICKEN dish, read on to get the inside scoop on my top tips for the PERFECT wine pairing.

First off, an important consideration is the type of chicken dish I am enjoying. Is it a grilled or ROASTED chicken? Is it roasted WITH HERBS OR without? These are the questions I like to ask myself to make sure I find the best possible match. Depending on the answers, I could choose a PINOT GRIGIO to go with a roasted chicken with herbal flavors, or a dry Riesling for a grilled chicken.

Another way to get the best pairing for my chicken dish is to check out the SAUCE. For example, if it’s a chicken Marsala, I would pair it with a full-bodied red wine that won’t override the already bold flavors. The same principle applies for other creamy sauces and also SPICY dishes with a good kick of heat. A viognier would be a great candidate for a creamy sauce, and if I’m looking for a wine to cut through the spice, I always go for a Sauvignon Blanc.

Finally, at the end of the day, PERSONAL preference plays an important role when selecting my favorite bottle of wine. If I can’t decide which one to buy, I always take the opportunity to go wine tasting and choose the best one’s that I like. Of course, I make sure I always bring my chicken dish with me to get the right pairing.
