2013 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon 750mL vs Magnum | Wine Tasting Notes | Jordan Uncorked Episode 25

Thank you for joining us for another
episode of Jordan Uncorked, I’m Maggie Cruz And I’m John Duckett. Today we
are tasting the 2013 from 750 versus the 2013 from our magnum, which is our new
release Magnum. It’s kind of a fun little Comparison, we don’t do this too often. Yeah I would say what’s the point of a magnum In terms of aging? Well, the magnum is going to age a lot longer. It’s a lot more graceful and so you can
really hold on to it. The 750 we say, I Like 10 to 15 years on ours and the
magnum can definitely go 20 plus. So We’ll see how they’re tasting today and
we’ll let you know. So let’s start with the 750, John. Alright. So the 2013 was pretty killer vintage
right off the heels of the 2012 which was One of the best in a long time so
back-to-back pretty special. The 2013 I Feel always had a little more of an
aging potential compared to the 2012. It had a little more tannin structure, had a
little more oomph I would say. The 2012 was really fruity and Soft, but not quite as tannic. I just went right in there, really nice fruit though. It’s a Lot of that concentrated black fruit. I
think that oak is actually a little bit More prominent on the 2013 750 than the
last time I tasted it. It’s really nicely Integrated last time I had it it was
really fruit forward and now there’s more Integration. I see that, yeah. Yeah same on the palate. I mean it’s Definitely fruit forward, but there is a little more of A presence there. The structure is just
beautiful. I mean I think this 750 will Go for quite a bit longer, yeah. I think we always thought that 2013 would be One of those years that’s really gonna
age well regardless – 750 or magnum. But, We’ll see when we taste the magnum, that
that should be something special when it Comes to aging. Let’s try the magnum! Yes! How much do you love magnums? I really love them. I wish we could bottle everything a magnum, honestly. Yeah I know, me too. All seriousness, they’re a really really
special bottles. It’s no hard to drink two Bottles at once. No, it’s two for one. Yeah so this right Off the bat is much more fruit-forward
you know kind of a lot of that black Fruit, blackberry coming out of the
glass. Yeah, much more fresh, I mean not fresh, but I kind of compare it to opening up The tank after bottling and kind of
smelling that wine going into the bottle I mean it’s it’s like it was just like
that. Really, really vibrant and delicious. But I think yeah, when you taste it you
little more grip from the tannins and

That’s just kind of that age character.
As the years go by, it’ll kind of Mellow out. Well the magnum is really just kind of Just hitting its stride. I would wait to open for at least 5-10 years. Yeah you could definitely drink it now, But I think if you want something
special. I mean it’s the Magnum, open it up At a special event, with many friends. So hold on to it, let it sit for at least five years. I think even the 750 could go 5-10 years. So food pairing for the 2013 like Maggie and I were saying its
definitely a stronger wine so I think That’ll hold up well to your steak
dinner. Heavier dishes, lamb would be Really good, kind of that gaminess to it
would be really nice. I’d put the lamb more with the 750 at this stage. I like it, yeah and then more beef kind of bigger, party stuff with the Magnum. Or with just by itself. It’s really easy to drink. It’s really really good. 2013 is one of
those special years, so definitely Excited about the Magnum coming out here. I think I’m gonna buy one, well I had fun Tasting the Magnum and 750. So thank you for joining us hopefully we gave you a Little insight as to aging a mag and why
they’re special bottles and especially This one so until next time. Thanks for
joining us and we’ll see you on the next episode. Cheers!
